Dressed in all orange Puma Golf Clothing — his Sunday tradition — the 21-year-old Rickie Fowler tried to become the youngest winner on the course Jack Nicklaus built and secure his first PGA Tour win. Going into the last round, Rickie led by three shots, but under tough conditions, he fell just a little short, losing to Justin Rose to place second.

A tremendous performance by the rookie, who awed the world’s best all week. His 36-hole total of 131 tied a tournament record set in 1987.
Even after the final round, Rickie was upbeat and collected, knowing he played an excellent tournament to secure his second runner-up finish of the year. “It was an awesome week,” he said. “Obviously not the round that I wanted today. Didn’t hit as many greens as I would like to, but we had a lot of fun.”
“I’m pleased with how comfortable I felt this week after having those chances. I look forward to the rest of the year.”
Rickie is also excited to keep the momentum going into Monday at the 36-hole sectional qualifier for the US Open in Columbus, OH. He said, “With all going well this week, I think that will make me feel really comfortable tomorrow on the tee and be ready to go make some birdies and hopefully qualify for the Open.”
With this runner-up finish at The Memorial, Rickie is now 12th on the official PGA Tour money list and 12th in FedEx Cup point standings.
In case you missed it, here are Rickie Fowler’s outfits by Puma Golf last week at the British Open in St. Andrews (except he wore an orange Puma golf shirt on Sunday). After a slow start in his major championship debut across the pond, Rickie fought back with a 67 on Friday to tie for the low round of the day and to sneak in the cut line. He shot 71-67 over the weekend to finish T14. In his final round, he birdied four of the last six holes, including one on the menacing Road Hole, where he dropped a 100-foot bomb, to once again post the low score in the field.
“Links golf is my favourite,” he said after his last round. “I love playing over here at the home of golf, playing the game as it’s meant to be played. So I hope I can keep coming back for many years.”
Rickie is playing in the Scandinavian Masters in Stockholm this week.
